Pile Up Wednesday: Halloween Edition

Hello Stickles Lovers! Welcome to Wednesday!!!! Cathy here from the ATS Design Team bringing you another Pile Up Wednesday. I have FOUR creations to share with you inspired by our current Halloween Linky Party. A few are from my archives but they all show you varying ways to achieve a Stickles Pile Up. What's a Stickles Pile Up? It's just like it sounds, either you add a lot of one color of Stickles or you use several colors on the same project.

Here's a peek at the cards I created.

Here's the first creation, quite clean and simple with just a mini Pile Up.

Stamp: Pumpkin Kitten (Beary Wishes)

Stickles: (Orange Peel, Baby Blue, Distress Straw)

I did the basic Pile Up technique of applying Stickles along the lines of the image. I outlined the pumpkin with Orange Peel, added Baby Blue to the kitten's bow and Distressed Straw to the flowers. This is the nice and easy way to start a Pile Up.

My second card uses the method of adding copious amounts of Stickles to an entire area of your image. Another easy way to get a Pile Up.

Stamp:Witch 1 (A Day for Daisies)

Stickles: (Lime Green, Magenta, Cotton Candy)

I had this awesome designer paper from DCWV that created the perfect back drop to my witch. A bit of fussy cutting and she looks like part of the scene.

This photo shows where I applied Stickles. Her dress has a solid layer of glittery goodness. I wanted to give some dimension to her hat so I only applied to the shadowed areas.

Card number three has a CAS layout with the Stickles Pile Up on the image. I combined several Stickles coloring techniques.

Stamp: Pumpkin Love Witch (Torico) 

Stickles: (Purple, Lime Green, Lavender, Black Diamond, Copper)

I outlined the pumpkin in Copper, used Black Diamond on the shadows of her hat and boots, a solid layer of Lime Green on her hair, and heavy accents on the shadows of her dress with Lavender.

My last creation has quite the Pile Up. This time I mixed in some Distress Stickles to the mix. They have a chunkier matte look than Original Stickles which work well with Halloween images.

Stamp: Attie Pumpkin (Pattie G) 

Stickles: (Black Diamond, Orange Peel, Cotton Candy, Gunmetal, Mystic Green; Distress: Spiced Marmalade, Peeled Paint, Milled Lavender)

I angled the pic on the left so you can see where I applied Stickles. There's not much space that's free from glitter! If you look closely at the grass you can see Mystic Green as the border and Distress Peeled Paint filled into the grassy area. See, they are a little different. I used Orange Peel on the outlines of the pumpkin and filled it in with Distress Spiced Marmalade. The kitty is decked out in Gunmetal and Cotton Candy; Distress Milled Lavender provides the sparkle stars around the image and Black Diamond adds the right amount of shine to the pumpkin face. I opted to leave the kitty's eyes sparkle free and added Black Enamel Accents (another awesome Ranger product).

Halloween Mixed Media and Blog Hopping

Here you are, my Trifold Screen for Halloween.  I used a lot of Stickles on this baby, and a lot of Ranger's Distress Inks, Glitter, and Embossing powders.  I had a blast making this and I am proud to actually use it as a decoration, along with last week's coffin in my home.  If you go to my blog:  Annmakes, you can read all about ALL the supplies I used to make this.  For now let me share with you just which Stickles I used.  Of course I used "Rock Candy", as always and there is "Spiced Marmalde",  "Orange Peel",Walnut Stain", "Black Diamond", and "Paprika".

Halloween Mixed Media

Hello, and Happy thanksgiving and an early Happy Halloween!.   It's Ann from Annmakes. Yup, here it is Canadian Thanksgiving and we are feasting on Turkey and all the trimmings including some delicious pumpkin pie. On our blog we are starting a new theme:  Halloween!  The fall is my favourite season because it encompasses my son's birthday, Thanksgiving, Halloween and the beautiful changing colours of the trees.  Today I wanted to show you a bit of my family's passion for Halloween with this piece that I made and that will be added to our Halloween Village that we set up every year.  (We do this again for Christmas with another village set.)

Here is Mr. Skeleton ready to party with his sparkly top hat and a dead rose between what is left of his rotted teeth.  His all wooden coffin is painted in Deathly Black and Funeral Purple with an overcoat of Rock Candy Stickles from Ranger.  His spookiness is surrounded by his pals the Ghosts, Bats, and Spiders.  The Happy Halloween is made from a Get Inky! by Blue Moon Creation stamp, Memento black Ink and Purple Stickles by Ranger, on a scrap of card stock.  The Coffin, skeleton, ghosts, bats, spiders and webs, even the branch in the background were all purchased at Dollarama.  The little rose which also has Pink Stickles by Ranger on it, and the top hat are made from supplies in my collection.  The paints are acrylic craft paints, Craft Decor.

I had a great time making this project and I hope that you will have fun too with your own Halloween creations, just remember to use Stickles and enter our challenge.

Halloween and Stickles

Hello, it's Ann from Annmakes and today I am sharing with you some ideas on how to use Stickles in your Halloween crafty projects.  I love Halloween as I get to play and have the perfect excuse to eat candy, especially those little chocolate bars, yummy!    As you may remember I LOVE Stickles and I have played with them for years!  When, it comes to Halloween projects there seems to be no limit as to which colours and types of Stickles I can use.  I have a preference for the Distress Stickles and I also like to use a lot of Black Diamond in many of my projects.  You can use those stickles on just about anything, even your pumpkins!  Just remmber that if you enjoy putting stickles on any thing that will be outside you may want to give it a sealant coat after the stickles have dried thoroughly to make sure they stay on.

I already said that there are no rules as to which colours work best for Halloween projects as it is a time for massive decorating and anything looks fancier with some bling.  Have you noticed all the Halloween decorations for sale in the store?  Most of them have shiny or glittery surfaces, in all colours!  

None the less, I do love the Spiced Marmalade  and Paprika for a gorgeous pumpkin colour!  The Burgundy  makes blood look even bloodier.  The greens are just awesome to use for eyes on black cats.  And, the Blacks are great for cats, bats, and witches.  Oh but the list could go on and on...

I know I have shared this Layout project before, but here is a close up of one of the spider webs I made using a Little Yellow Bicycle chip board, Black acrylic paint by Ranger and of course Black Diamond Stickles as well as Rock Candy.

Again, here I used some Black Stickles, subtly on this Halloween card I made,  shiny black on yellow really stands out.
