Tips & Techniques Tuesday: Stickled-Dyed Ribbon

Happy Tuesday Everyone, Karen here from the All That Stickles Design Team showing you a new technique!

I love ribbon! If you're like me, you want to have it in every color.  What could be better than ribbon in any color?  SPARKLY ribbon in any color!

For today's technique, I used white seam binding ribbon to create Stickle-dyed ribbon.

First, I usually do this on cheap Costco paper plates.  It's a bit messy, so they can contain the mess and be thrown away at the end.  I first sprayed a couple squirts of Dylusions ink spray in Lemon Zest, then squirted some Yellow Stickles in and smushed it around with a spoon.

Next, I took some white seam binding ribbon and smooshed it around in the stickles/ink mixture.

Then, I layed out the ribbon on another paper plate and let it dry.  In my card that you'll see later in this post, you'll note that the corrugated heart has some of the yellow stickle mixture on it.  Waste not!

And here's the ribbon on my card!

I did a second card using Calypso Teal Dylusions and Turquoise Stickles.  The center of the flower is highlighted with a little Cinnamon Stickles!

Thank you for stopping by to see my technique. Hope you decide to make your own special Stickle-Dyed Ribbon!

Craftily yours,

Karen (karey2005)

  3. Karen, your cards are ... well, just stunning!!! What a GREAT (and simple) way to enhance/change ribbon. And GREAT job on the tut, too! Never thought to use paper plates when working with my sprays ... it will make clean-up so much easier. Thanks for sharing with us, Karen!!!
