Tips & Techniques Thursday: Ombre Stickles Combinations

Happy Thursday! Ashley here today with a fun technique to show Stickles can be used to make an ombre effect. Ombre (when one color fades into another - see picture below) is a recent trend that has taken the fashion world by storm - mostly found in hair and on nails - but has recently become a trend in the crafting world as well. If it's good enough for hair and nails, why not glitter?! :)

About a month or so I was working on an ice-cream shaped card. While struggling to decide what colors to make the scoops, I came across solid-colored cardstock in a paper pack that would look great as an ombre pattern, and I thought, hey, why not make ombre scoops, and then outline each scoop in Stickles?! And thus, the idea for ombre Stickles was born.

This is the only project I've made using ombre Stickles so far (although I foresee many more in the future) and to speed up that process I decided to pull out my Stickles stash and put together some potential ombre color combinations to share with you (and myself) for future reference.

This was the combo I used on the ice cream scoops - these are all Distress Stickles.

Brown - Gold (Distress Stickles)

Burnt Orange - Yellow (Distress Stickles)

Dark Green - Light Green (Distress Stickles)

Dark Blue - Light Blue (Distress Stickles)

Pink - Purple (Distress Stickles)

Purple - Pink (Regular Stickles)

Gold - Silver (Regular Stickles)

Turquoise - Aqua (Regular Stickles)

Dark Blue - Light Blue (Ice Stickles)

Orange - Yellow (Ice Stickles)

These were the combos I could spot firsthand just by looking off my Stickles color charts, but I'm sure there's a few more if you were to really sit down and take a close look. Although I do think these combos offer a wide color variety and a good place to start. :)

Have you ever used ombre before? How about with glitter? We'd love to see!

Have a great rest of your day and thanks for stopping by. :)
