Tips & Techniques Tuesday: Modeling Film and Stickles

Happy Tuesday, Stickle Fans.  Karen N here from Craftily Yours, and I'm here to show you a "new-to-me" product called Clearly for Art Modeling Film mixed with Stickles!  This product is much like a transparency (i.e. clear plastic), but it's a little thicker and can be molded after heat is applied to achieve all sorts of cool effects.  Even cooler (as with anything) is mixing it up with some Stickles!
On our blog hop last weekend, I created a Stickled up flower with it.  First, I ran it through the Cuttlebug with some Spellbinder flower dies.

The film is thick enough that these dies did not cut the film, but it dug down enough that it only took me a few moments to free the designs.

Next, I covered them with Stickles.

The colors used here are Cranberry, Mercury Glass and Pink Taffeta.  As with any Stickles processes, let it DRY fully.   Then comes the fun part, heat up the plastic (with a blow-dryer or heat gun), and mold it as you wish.

and then layer them up.  Easy - and check out the result!  I love the dimension and, of course, the sparklies!

This is my last post as a designer for All That Stickles.  It's been a wonderful two terms, and I want to thank Ashley and Tonya and the rest of both teams for all their wonderful, positive and supportive comments.  It's been a great experience!

Keep on Sticklin'!

Craftily yours,

Karen

Featured Fan Friday: Stephanie

Please welcome our Featured Fan this month, the lovely Stephanie from Day Dreamer!

Hello Everyone! It's Stephanie from Day DreamerI am so excited to be here today sharing my holiday decor project using stickles. I decided to create a Cinnamon Stick Candle. They are so pretty, smell really good, and are fun to make! Let's get started-

Using a hot glue gun, glue down the cinnamon sticks to the candle. Once the entire candle is covered with the cinnamon sticks, you can apply your paint.

I used Martha Stewart Multi-Surface Acrylic Craft Paint in pearl, it has a nice shimmer and is perfect for holiday projects. In order to get a splatter effect, I used a fan paint brush and flicked the paint on.

Once the paint dries you can apply the Stickles. I used Stardust today.

When I am working with a large area that needs coverage, I squeeze some stickles onto my craft mat, and use a paint brush to apply it.

After the Stickles dry, you can embellish your candle. I added some ribbon and berries from Michaels.

When you dim the lights you can see the the beautiful shimmer that the Stickles added to the Cinnamon Sticks.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend.

Happy Holidays Mixed Media Monday

Hi and welcome to Mixed Media Monday with the theme:  Happy Holidays.  Today I have a quick project and a brief description to share.   I have a pennant that I made using my Silhouette Die cutting machine and one of the Christmas pennant banners (which is an SVG downloadable file) from their store.

I used green card stock, white paper, some ribbon, two bells and STICKLES!!!!!  in Christmas Red, Gold, Green and Rock Candy.  This pennant can be part of a longer banner or stay by itself.  It can be hung on a wall and might look lovely in a window as well.

Thank you for stopping by and please stop by my blog to see what else I am up to.  Annmakes.

Pile Up Wednesday: Thankful Frame

Hello Stickles Lovers! Welcome to Wednesday!!!! Cathy here from the ATS Design Team bringing you another Pile Up Wednesday. Are you still working on your Holiday Home Decor Project for the current linky party? I know that 'not a card' challenges make some of us think more than usual (they always push me outside my comfort zone). There's still time to join in the fun, you can post a link to your creation until Friday December 6th at 11:00 PM US CST.

I used my card making skills to create a frame that's perfect for this time of year. I used the basic card premise and made it a little bit bigger to fit a 5" x 7" frame. Here's my finished project.
I sponged the background spots with a stencil but you could use patterned paper as well. A few die cuts, paper scrap, burlap trim and a generous layer of Stickles and it's ready for display.

I used Paprika, Yellow, Gunmetal, Cinnamon and Distressed Spiced Marmalade Stickles on the leaves and die cut 'thankful'. I kept it pretty simple by outlining the leaves and following the plaid pattern in the paper.

I absolutely LOVE the contrast of the Stickles against the burlap trim.

This would be easy to adapt for your home by using a color scheme and shapes that fit your decor. For this project I used a pile of Stickles but since I used them mostly for outlines, they enhance without overtaking the project. I hope I inspired you and that you will join my Stickles Pile Up movement and share your creation.

There's still time to play in our Holiday Home Decor Linky Party. Come join the party!

Thanks for coming to the Pile Up! I'll see you with another creation in a fort night.

Tips & Techniques Tuesday: Fireworks Stickles

Hi. It's Angeline from ScrappyScrappy. Today I have a "fiery" tip for you for the upcoming New Year or any celebrations at all. :) Get those Stickles out and Stickle away!

***

1. Get your favorite Distress Paint out {Mustard Seed / Picked Raspberry / Salty Ocean}.
Grab your water mister out and spritz some onto the top of the Distress Paint dauber.

2. Splat onto your cardstock to create a splat effect!

3. Then get your favorite Stickles out. {Glam Pink / Broken China / Yellow}

4. Stickle along the splat lines.

5. Ta-daaa!! And you have fireworks Stickles. :)
I've stamped the sentiment below using some Unity Stamps.

Here's a close up on how pretty the fireworks is with some Stickles.

Hope you enjoy the tutorial. Go try it out and have fun Stickle-ing!

More Holiday Home Decor for Mixed Media Monday

Hello, and a post Happy Thanks Giving to my American friends.  I hope that you had a good holiday and survived Black Friday!  How about a little bit of Mixed Media Art to boost your spirits?  By the way, it's Ann from Annmakes and the All That Stickles Design Team.

Here is a picture of my newest creation that I have put up in my booth( #10, Alfred Flea Market, 4822 County Road 17, Alfred, Ontario, Canada).  Just a plug for my new venture! :)

This is a Cardinal bird, they are common in my neighbourhood and we love it when they visit us in the midst of our dreary winters, as their plumage is so cheery!  This bird started out as a piece of balsa wood that I covered with a cotton paper (Dollarama), that I stamped on with a rolling Musical Notes stamp from Stampin' Up! and some Sepia coloured Ranger's Archival Ink.  I drew the bird, branch and pine cones in pencil.  I painted with Ink Tense Water Colour crayons by Derwent.  I also used Micron permanent ink pens in black and brown.  The snow was made with a Deco Art Snow Writer pen.  I used Christmas Red Stickles from Ranger on the birds back and head, Black Diamond stickles for his eye, and some Gold Stickles for some more bling.  Finally I sponged the edges of the piece with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Walnut Ink by Ranger.  The wire handle came with the piece of wood which I picked up at Value Village for pennies!!  I really like how my lil' friend turned out and he is very popular with everyone who sees him.  I hope that you are cheered up too by my painting.  Thanks for stopping by.
